About This Experience
Maverick's canyon-landing flight is the shorter, sharper version of the Las Vegas helicopter trip: no coach transfer, no long airport wait, just check in at Maverick's own terminal and fly. Total elapsed time is two to two and a half hours rather than half a day.
The outbound leg tracks Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam and Fortification Hill, an extinct volcano, before the aircraft reaches the canyon and drops toward the Colorado River. You land on Hualapai land for champagne and a light snack, then climb back out through the canyon and return past the red rock of the Bowl of Fire.
There are two departure options and they are genuinely different trips. The morning flight beats the desert heat and gives the crispest air. The sunset flight returns over the Strip as the city lights come up, which is the better photograph but the busier slot - it sells out first.

Is hotel pickup included?
No. Unlike the Papillon landing tour, this flight does not include transfers - you make your own way to the Maverick Helicopters terminal and check in at least 45 minutes before departure. That is also why the total time is 2-2.5 hours rather than 4.5.
Should I book the morning flight or the sunset flight?
The morning departure has the clearest air and the coolest temperatures on the canyon floor. The sunset option flies back over the Las Vegas Strip as the lights come on, which is the stronger photograph. Sunset slots sell out first.
Where exactly does the helicopter land?
On Hualapai tribal land on the canyon floor, close to the Colorado River. You stop there for champagne and a light snack before the return flight.
What happens if fewer than four people book my flight?
Every departure requires a minimum of four passengers. If your slot does not reach that number the operator will move you to another time or refund you - which is a good reason not to leave this to your last afternoon in Las Vegas.
Is there a weight limit?
Passengers weighing 300 lb or more are required to purchase an additional seat, and all seating is assigned at check-in to keep the aircraft within legal weight-and-balance limits.
